Emailed threats against two flights to Sofia from London Stansted and Brussels; Hungarian fighters escorted one
On 6 November 2026, Bulgaria’s Ministry of Transport and Communications told AFP that threatening messages had been received about two flights to Sofia, from London Stansted and from Brussels. Both aircraft landed safely at Sofia’s Vasil Levski Airport. According to the ministry, the threats were sent by email; no explosives were found when the aircraft were checked. Hungary’s defence minister said Hungarian fighter jets escorted the Airbus A321 on the Brussels–Sofia route through Hungarian airspace.
