An aircraft identified as a US-registered Bombardier Artemis II flew around Kaliningrad Oblast for just over three hours, the Russian state news agency TASS reported on 6 November 2026. The claim is based on comments from a single unnamed air traffic control source. At the time of publication, Flank had found no independent confirmation. The exact date of the flight was not given.

The reported route passes through Poland, Lithuania and the Baltic Sea

According to the TASS source, the aircraft flew clockwise around Kaliningrad Oblast, through Polish and Lithuanian airspace and over international waters in the Baltic Sea. The reported route does not include entry into Russian airspace.

The same source claims this was the third flight near the Russian exclave since the start of the week. According to the source, similar flights took place on Monday and Wednesday and lasted between one and four hours. All these details come from the same report, rather than separate confirmations.

The source adds that after the flight, the aircraft headed towards its base at the airport in Constanța, Romania, and that it frequently flies over the southern Black Sea. This is the indirect regional link to Bulgaria. There are no reports of passage through Bulgarian airspace or of Bulgarian involvement.

The aircraft’s operator and task remain unclear

TASS describes the aircraft as a NATO reconnaissance aircraft. However, US registration alone establishes neither its operator nor its involvement in an Allied operation. No registration number or verifiable flight track has been provided, nor is there official confirmation of the mission, its basing in Constanța or the previous flights.

In Flank’s assessment, if the reported duration and repeated flights are confirmed, they would be consistent with periodic surveillance rather than merely a transit flight. However, the route does not establish what information was collected or which sites were monitored. Without details of the equipment, the specific type of reconnaissance task cannot be determined either.
