Executive summary
A military inspection identified the aircraft found near Shabla as a Russian Gerber-2 carrying no explosives.
Why it mattersThis clarification supersedes initial reports of a Shahed and does not support a claim that an armed attack drone was found.
According to the transport ministry, two aircraft from London Stansted and Brussels landed safely in Sofia, and checks found no explosives.
Why it mattersResults are now available for these two alerts, but they do not establish who was behind the threats or whether the separate incidents are linked.
Maritime publication Maritime.bg reported that Mentor was being towed towards Constanța rather than Turkey, the destination announced yesterday.
Why it mattersThe change of course requires confirmation before it can be treated as the damaged tanker’s established destination.
Witkoff announced trilateral talks between the US, Ukraine and Russia in Abu Dhabi on 10–11 November.
Why it mattersThe announced agenda puts Ukraine’s post-war security at the centre of the talks, but there is no agreed outcome yet.

Bulgarian Navy destroys unarmed Gerber-2 near Shabla
According to the Ministry of Defence, Bulgarian Navy personnel destroyed an unmanned aircraft found on the beach north of the lighthouse at Cape Shabla. A military inspection classified it as a Russian Gerber-2 and established that it carried no explosives. The inspection did not confirm initial reports of a Shahed marking.
Why it matters
The military inspection, rather than the initial identification, is the basis for assessing the immediate risk. The find should not be presented as the discovery of an armed Shahed.

No explosives found in checks on two flights to Sofia
The Ministry of Transport and Communications told AFP of emailed threats against two flights to Sofia from London Stansted and Brussels. According to the ministry, both aircraft landed safely at Vasil Levski Airport, and checks found no explosives. According to Hungary’s defence minister, Hungarian fighter jets escorted an Airbus A321 flying from Brussels to Sofia through Hungarian airspace.
Why it matters
The negative checks provide a concrete result for these two alerts. They do not prove that the threats had a common organiser or automatically allow the other cases to be closed.

BTA reports that European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen plans to meet Prime Minister Rumen Radev and visit the Naval Academy on 10 November. Varna is part of a tour of the Black Sea region. Romanian outlet News.ro links the tour to attacks on ships, but that connection has been reported by only one source.
Why it matters
The visit provides an opportunity to discuss Black Sea security at a senior European level. There is currently no basis for presenting it as an announcement of specific measures against attacks on shipping.

Stoyanov rules out military pay rise in 2027
Defence Minister Dimitar Stoyanov says there will be no increase in military pay in 2027, Armymedia.bg reports. He says higher pay would require cuts to capital spending. Following delivery of the first Strykers, Bulgaria is seeking compensation for the delay in the form of spare parts and training vehicles.
Why it matters
The position sets out the budgetary choice between pay and modernisation, but is not equivalent to a finally adopted budget. For Stryker, the key question remains whether the requested compensation will be agreed, rather than merely sought.

Mentor probably being towed towards Constanța
Maritime publication Maritime.bg reports that the tug Athletic is taking the stricken tanker Mentor north towards Constanța, rather than Turkey, the destination given yesterday. The publication cites Automatic Identification System (AIS) data. The new course has not been independently confirmed.
Why it matters
The substantive change is the tow’s presumed destination. Until it is confirmed, it cannot be treated as established where the damaged vessel will be received.

Talks announced in Abu Dhabi on 10–11 November
Witkoff announced talks between the US, Ukraine and Russia in Abu Dhabi on 10–11 November. According to the announcement, the agenda includes Ukraine’s post-war security, de-escalation and humanitarian issues. BTA quotes a NATO spokeswoman as saying that allies are working towards a just and lasting peace ahead of the meeting.
Why it matters
Announcing a date and an agenda is a more concrete step than general diplomatic positions. It does not, however, mean that security guarantees or an end to hostilities have been agreed.
